Extension & Renovation Project
Goadby Marwood Village Hall is a beautiful and historically significant building which is Grade II listed, one of just seven percent of village halls in England to be afforded that status according to figures published by Action with Communities in Rural England (ACRE).
It is a truly stunning building, boasting a vaulted ceiling with an exposed timber structure and a beautiful tripartite window allowing natural light to flood the space. It is made from locally quarried ironstone, giving it a charming and rustic feel, and the cosy open fire adds to the warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Unfortunately, the current facilities, namely a tiny kitchen, antiquated and obsolete heating and very limited storage space, restrict the size and type of events that can be held and prevent the building being used to its full potential
as a vibrant community space. Furthermore, in 2022, cracks began to appear in the eastern gable-end wall.
A series of structural surveys was commissioned with the conclusion being that structural repairs are needed to safeguard the long-term future of the building.
Mission
The Friends of Goadby Marwood Village Hall are committed to ensuring our village hall remains a welcoming space for many years to come. Our aim is to raise the funds needed to perform essential repairs, improve our heating system and make it more energy-efficient, and build a large extension that will allow us to offer a brand new, fully equipped kitchen for community events and gatherings.
