Project Progress
Welcome to our Village Hall project page, where you can follow every step of our exciting journey as we transform this much-loved community space. Here, we’ll be sharing regular updates on the extension and renovation works, so you can stay fully informed as things progress. The plans include a brand-new, modern kitchen within the extension, improved and relocated toilet facilities, and a refreshed main hall complete with restored flooring and insulation for year-round comfort. We’ll also be installing new AV equipment to support events and activities, alongside renewing some of the electrics and carrying out essential repairs. It’s a big step forward for our village, and we’re delighted to bring everyone along as the hall evolves into an even more welcoming and versatile hub for the whole community.
31st May 2026
Building materials were delivered to site earlier this week, and construction work officially began on Tuesday. Progress has been good so far, with the foundations for the new kitchen extension now dug out and preparation works well underway.
One of the first tasks completed was an investigation of the existing drainage run that passes beneath the footprint of the proposed extension. Following inspection, the drain was found to be in satisfactory condition and suitable to remain in place.
To ensure future access for inspection and maintenance once the extension is complete, two new manholes have been installed as part of the drainage works. This will provide convenient access to the drainage system without the need for any future disruption to the extension.
With the drainage works completed and foundations excavated, the project has made a positive start and is progressing as planned.

22nd May 2026
The village hall extension and renovation project is now fully underway and work began this week with marking out the site. The hall has been completely emptied, with all furniture and equipment safely stored in the container provided by the building contractor for this purpose, and the shed and old picnic benches have been dismantled and disposed of. A massive thank you to everyone who rolled up their sleeves and helped — your hard work made an enormous difference. Safety fencing and temporary ancillary buildings have now been put in place to prepare the site, and groundworks for the new kitchen extension are scheduled to begin on May 26th. Exciting times ahead as we take this big step toward improving our community space!

27th April 2026
We’re delighted to share the news that the building contract was officially signed today, marking a major milestone for the project. The work will be carried out by Ackroyd Construction, with site preparation scheduled to begin on May 26th. For safety reasons, there will be no general access to the site once work is underway. However, we hope to arrange occasional supervised group visits for those who would like to see the progress first-hand—more details on these will be shared as the project moves forward.
Today also marked another step in the project, with the delivery of a large storage container to the village hall site. This will be used to safely store all the furniture and equipment that needs to be cleared out before building work begins, helping us keep everything organised and protected during the renovation. In the coming days, we’ll be asking for volunteers from the community to lend a hand with moving items into storage—so if you’re able to help, we’d love your support as we get things ready for the next stage of this exciting transformation.
