About the event
Join the Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Group of The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB), and step into the heart of rural Leicestershire to explore the beautiful ironstone village of Goadby Marwood with a guided tour through centuries of history.
Along the route you will hear captivating tales of the Manor House, once home to prisoners of war; The Old Rectory, where the English inventor Edmund Cartwright lived; the Grade II listed village hall, the heart of the community for over 160 years; the Grade I listed 13th-century St Denys Church, a striking medieval landmark; and the elegant 17th-century Grade II* listed Goadby Hall, formerly owned by the Dukes of Rutland.
