About the event
Get ready for our unforgettable Community Heritage Discovery Weekend – a hands-on archaeological adventure for all ages! Funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, thanks to National Lottery players, this event celebrates and explores the rich history beneath our feet. In partnership with The Field Detectives and The Roman Road Research Association, we’ll be exploring the paddocks at the heart of our village as we seek to uncover more about the mysterious Roman settlement known to have been here. Was a Roman road once at the centre of the village? With cutting-edge magnetometry surveys, you can help us find out! You’ll also have the chance to try your hand at metal detecting, scanning the fields just like a real archaeologist in search of potential Roman artefacts.
